Jardin des Neiges: the first ski lessons from 2 and a half years old

For the youngest children, discovering skiing starts above all with getting used to the snow and the mountain world.ESI, International Ski School, welcomes children from 2 and a half years old at the Snow Garden, a specially designed area for their first discoveries. There they can get used to their equipment and gradually experience the sensations of gliding in a setting adapted to their age.

At this stage, it is primarily a matter of sparking a love of skiing and building the child's confidence. The sessions prioritize a playful approach, with simple games and exercises that allow children to discover their first movements without pressure. Little by little, children become familiar with their skis, learn to move in the snow, and gain confidence as the sessions progress.

The goal: to have fun!

For very young children, the first sessions must first and foremost be synonymous with discovery and enjoyment. The goal is to familiarise the child with skiing while building their confidence, without aiming for results in the first lessons. The instructors therefore favour a gentle, gradual approach, adapted to each child's pace.

Thanks to games and activities specially designed for the youngest, they gradually discover their equipment and the sensations of skiing. Each exercise helps them to find their bearings on the snow, to develop their balance and to gradually become more comfortable with their skis.

The snow garden

A ski learning program designed for little ones

From the age of 2 and a half years, children can start getting familiar with the world of skiing. For them, everything is a discovery: putting on skis, wearing a helmet, walking in the snow or getting used to ski boots. ESI instructors therefore give this first stage great importance so that the child gradually settles into their new environment.

The sessions are designed to take into account the attention span and rhythm of toddlers. The activities vary between moments of play, movements and short sequences of sliding. This alternation allows the balance, coordination and control of the first movements to be developed naturally, without overloading the session.

Play is central to this discovery. Through small obstacle courses, movements to copy or simple challenges, children try out skiing movements spontaneously. They develop their first skills while gradually associating gliding with a pleasant, fun experience.
